Most City offices will be closed Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday.
Neither garbage collection nor landfill operations will be interrupted on Good Friday.

Fort Concho’s Visitor Center in Barracks 1 will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The fort will also be open during its normal Sunday operating hours, 1 p.m.-5 p.m., on Easter Sunday. Self-guided tours will be available throughout the weekend. The fort is at 630 S. Oakes St.

The Women, Infant and Children (WIC) offices, which are normally closed on Fridays, will also be closed Thursday in observance of Easter. Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers, and Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers will be closed Friday.

The San Angelo Nature Center, 7409 Knickerbocker Road, hosts an Easter event from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 19. The festivities include an egg hunt, a petting zoo, photo stations (participants are encouraged to bring a camera) and free candy. The cost is $1 per person for Nature Center members. Non-members pay $1 for ages 1-3, $3 for ages 4-12, and $4 for ages 13 and older. Call the Center at 942-0121 for more details.

Firefighters Memorial City Park, 315 E. Twohig Ave., will host First Baptist Church’s Easter egg hunt from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

TLC’s 14th Easter Fest will be at Texas Bank Sports Complex, 509 Rio Concho Drive, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Bring the family for a great time of bounces, food, drinks, face painting, rock climbing and the Texas largest Easter Egg Hunt. It is completely free for the everyone!

Fairmount Cemetery will host two Easter weekend events. At 8 a.m. Saturday, April 19, the inaugural Rise & Shine Run, consisting of 5K and one-mile runs or walks, will wind its way through the burial grounds at 1120 W. Avenue N.

Participants may run or walk a 5K or 1-mile course through the 57-acre cemetery, which is the final resting place of many Buffalo Soldiers and servicemen from the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.

Registration is $15 for the 5K, $10 for the mile and $5 for children. Registration may be completed at roadlizards.org or at Fairmount Cemetery on race day beginning at 7 a.m. A registration form can also be downloaded at cosatx.us/fairmountcemetery and mailed to Friends of Fairmount with the registration fee.Participants will receive a T-shirt on a first-come, first-served basis.The races will start from the gazebo.For more information, contact Amy Deadman at 325-227-5953.

The cemetery will also host a sunrise community worship service on Easter morning.Co-sponsored by First Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church, the joint service will be performed by the Rev. Dr. James Hassell of First Baptist and the Rev. Sam Hunnicutt of First United Methodist. The service begins at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 20, near the St. Francis statue at Fairmount, 1120 W. Avenue N.
There will be no seating, so worshippers are encouraged to bring their own chair if they want or need it. Because of the limited amount of parking inside the historic cemetery, attendees are also encouraged to carpool. Participants may park behind the cemetery in the Angelo State University intramural fields parking lot off of Jackson Street and enter through the cemetery’s back entrance. Neighborhood foot traffic can enter through the front entrance.
