The San Angelo Community Band will open its 25th season this evening with its Memorial Day Concert.
The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at Sierra Vista Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd.

Selections will include “American Overture for Band” by Joseph Willcox Jenkins, which was performed at the Community Band’s first concert in 1989, “American Civil War Fantasy” by Jerry Bilik, “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Grainger, “The Chimes of Liberty March” by Edwin Franko Goldman and “The Washington Post March” by John Philip Sousa. The band will also perform “The Bride of the Waves” by Herbert Clarke, featuring a soloist on euphonium, Jake Martin.

The San Angelo Community Band is made up of adult musicians who formerly played in high school and college bands and is under the direction of Dr. Constance L. Kelley, assistant professor of music and assistant director of bands for ASU.
