Texas Southwest Council, a San Angelo-based organization that provides official Boy Scouts programs to more than 2,300 Scouts in southwest Texas, announced today that they will have their Annual Recognition Dinner and Annual Meeting this Saturday at 7pm at the Bentwood Country Club.
Distinguished Eagle Scout, Bob Malone, President and CEO of Sonora Bank will be the Scouts guest speaker.  Malone will be addressing the Texas Southwest Council, BSA 2012 Eagle Scout Class, the 2012 Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year recipient, four Silver Beaver Recipients (the council highest award presented to a volunteer), General Gerald Prather, the council’s newest Distinguished Eagle Scout, Scouters and parents.The Scouts will also approve the 2013 Executive Board, and officers and financials during their annual meeting.

The Texas Southwest Council serves 2,300 young people in 23 ½ counties across southwest Texas.   More than 58% of the kids served live at or are below poverty guidelines and 60% are minority.  More than 1,100 adults volunteer their time to deliver Scouting. In 2012, they had 41 young men earn the rank of Eagle Scout and over 17,000 hours of service were provided to our communities through the work of our Scouts.
