Car Chases, Shootouts All Part of Randy Houser’s ‘We Went’ Video
Randy Houser transitions from playing cowboy to outlaw in the new music video for his song “We Went.” The video will debut this weekend, but Taste of Country has this extensive behind the scenes look at the action — and there’s a lot of action.
Fans will recognize a few of the actors in "We Went" from Houser’s “Like a Cowboy” video. The singer returned to Arizona with director Dustin Rikert to film this modern-day Bonnie and Clyde / Robin Hood-themed video. If great country music, shootouts, car chases and explosions are your thing, Houser’s video will leave you satisfied. The full clip will premiere on CMT on Aug. 1 before being released on Vevo next week.
The complex, multi-day shoot tells the story of Houser and his love interest (actress Caitlin Leahy) on the run from a drug cartel they robbed. Instead of hiding out however, the couple distribute the money to people in need, before having some fun at the casino. That’s where actor William Shockley (who was also in the dramatic “Like a Cowboy” video) and his group of bandits find the lovers.
Fans don’t get to see how the action unfolds in this inside-the-action clip, but they do get a preview of the hot rods, explosions and thrilling chases. “We’re actually gonna flip a cop car right now,” Houser says nonchalantly toward the end of this behind-the-scenes video. “My ass is gonna be up here,” he adds, laughing as Shockley looks on.
Shot earlier this summer in Tucson and Huachuca City, Ariz., as well as the Sierra Vista in Cochise County, the “We Went” video promises to elevate Houser to a contender for king of the country music video. This new clip complements the dramatic, seven-minute-long clip for “Like a Cowboy.” “We Went” is the first single from a forthcoming album, his second on Stoney Creek Records.
