It says something about Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' that we're now being slammed with new trailers and TV spots on what feels like a daily basis and we haven't started getting resentful. The newest spot is just brimming with color and confidence, unafraid to step out and say "Hey, this is a movie where Chris Pratt bickers with bitter, gun-wielding raccoon for two hours."

Most importantly, this spot finally retires Blue Suede's "Hooked on a Feeling," scoring to "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways. Whoever first decided that this film's marketing campaign should be backed by songs from Peter Quill's personal '80s mix tape deserves a big raise, a bottle of champagne and his own comic series (because he's the real hero).

Of course, the spot also features plenty of new footage, much of it only a second long and cut into eye-popping montages. However, this is the first trailer or spot for the film that really lets it sink in that the great Glenn Close is playing the head of the Nova Corps and that she'll have scenes where she talks with John C. Reilly about characters named Groot and Rocket Raccoon. This movie seems too weird to exist, but here it is! Bring it on.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' opens on August 1, 2014.
