The Miles Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol-Commercial Vehicle Enforcement will host a program regarding commercial vehicle laws and how they apply to large trucks and other vehicles utilized in agricultural operations. The program is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 beginning at 10:00 AM at the Miles Young Farmers Show Complex. The program will run through noon and a complimentary noon meal will be served in the noon hour followed by a question and answer session with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Troopers.

All agricultural producers in Runnels, Tom Green, Concho, Coke, and surrounding counties are encouraged to attend.  There is no fee for this program. Those attending are asked to RSVP by Friday, May 15 at 4:00 PM to Miles City Hall by calling 468-3151 or by email at cityofmiles@milestx.org. Please provide the names of the people attending so that an accurate meal headcount may be obtained.

Numerous changes in how the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act applies to agricultural producers are either in place or are pending. This program will provide producers who utilize heavy trucks in their grain harvest and other facets of their operations a chance to learn what steps are needed to be taken to be in compliance with the law during the upcoming harvest season.  All interested persons are encouraged to attend and ask questions.
