Martina McBride is passionate about making her career about more than just herself. With her charity initiative called Team Music is Love (originally titled Team Martina), she partnered with a food bank in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to feed more than 300 people before her concert at Black River Coliseum on Oct.14.

McBride’s crew sent a truckload of food over — dubbed the “the Martina McBride mobile food pantry” — to the Bread Shed food bank and distributed it to hungry people. The Poplar Bluff area has been hit hard with unemployment and economic downturn, according to a news release. Team Music is Love also accepted donations for the Southeast Missouri Food Bank at the concert that night.

“I'm so proud of this team and it's volunteers as they embrace the spirit of this tour and unleash love in this crazy world we are living in. We definitely need all the love and positivity we can get right now,” McBride writes on Instagram about the experience. Check out more photos from the event on Team Music is Love's Facebook page.

The gesture of goodwill falls in line with the singer's Love Unleashed Tour. McBride is on a mission to spread love around the country as she travels — Team Music is Love has been partnering with local causes to help others in many ways as it follows McBride on tour, including building a playground for children in Atlanta, beginning a music therapy program in Guatemala and visiting patients in hospitals.

Poplar Bluff was the first show on McBride’s Love Unleashed Tour, which runs through Dec. 9.
