Bryan Bogart, the father of St. Jude patient Mandy Bogart, sits down to talk about a parents experience with a child who is diagnosed with cancer as well as his experience with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

After the initial diagnoses, Mandy was referred to St. Jude almost immediately. Mandy in now in a fight against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia type B cell, or otherwise known as ALL. Bryan remembers that when they arrived at the hospital around 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. there were staff members waiting at the door saying, "We were waiting on her'. They immediately began attending Mandy, as they have an oncologist on the floor.

Mr. Bogart couldn't believe that this was a hospital. He was surprised when all they wanted him to do was focus on his daughter. St. Jude will take insurance if it is available, but the family never pays more than that. One treatment of Mandy's chemotherapy costs roughly fifty to sixty thousand dollars apiece. The financial strain is tremendous, but St. Jude's does all that it can to alleviate that burden.
