At approximately12:19 p.m., Motor Officer Brian Bylsma pulled over a black Dodge P/U in the O blk. of E. Chadbourne for the vehicle registration being expired.
As Officer Bylsma was approaching the truck the driver bailed out on foot. PO Bylsma immediately called in a foot chase. PO Bylsma put out description of a H/M wearing a white top and blue jeans. As units were responding to the area PO Bylsma advised that the suspect had double backed to his vehicle and he was now in a vehicle pursuit.

PO Bylsma advised dispatch that the vehicle was westbound on 12th and had crossed over Chadbourne. Patrol units responded to the area and took over chase at 12:21 p.m. in the area of 16th & MLK Blvd.   The pursuit speeds were logged between 35mph to 40 mph.

 The black 1999 P/U bearing TX LP#13VTD5 came to a stop in the south alley of the 400blk. of E. 29th where the driver once again bailed out of his vehicle in an attempt to evade officers on foot. The driver was immediately taken into custody.  The driver was identified as Jose Luis Valdez of San Angelo. The right front passenger in the vehicle co-operated with officers the entire time by remaining in her seat. She was identified as Regina Cardile.

A check for wants & warrants revealed that Mr. Valdez had an outstanding Blue Warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued by the Austin Pardons & Paroles for violation of Parole. The passenger was clear of any warrants.

The driver was arrested for the outstanding Blue warrant & Evading with Vehicle.

Det. Michael Gaeta responded to scene to conduct the investigation.
