A portion of Hillside Drive, a popular route for runners, joggers and walkers adjacent to Lake Nasworthy, will be closed for approximately one week beginning today to repair a storm drain culvert that is failing under the roadway.
Also known as the “KOA” running route, Hillside will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic from just beyond the KOA campground on the hill’s east side to its northeast corner. There are no homes between those two points.

Access will be granted to property owners via Hillside on the hill’s west side. Signage noting, “No Through Traffic” will be placed prior to the residential area. Residents should egress to the south from their homes.

Walkers and runners are advised to avoid the area until the construction project is completed by the City’s Storm Water Division.

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Patrick Frerich, the City’s assistant director of the Operations Department. “Unfortunately, we have to close Hillside Drive to repair the culvert before its failure impacts the roadway itself. We’re going to work to ensure the closure is as short as possible.”
