Fans who attended Garth Brooks' two concerts in California over the weekend got way more than they paid for when Joe Nichols dropped in on back-to back nights to deliver an unannounced opening set.

Nichols took the stage in front of Brooks' massive crowds at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday (Sept. 17) and Sunday (Sept. 18) to deliver two very special guests sets. The multi-platinum artist was double-booked on Sunday, when he had already agreed to headline the California Beer Festival in Ventura, and was only able to make it all work out with an unusual effort.

Nichols joined Brooks on Saturday afternoon for soundcheck, and in the video above — which is exclusive to Taste of Country — we see him returning to the concert site via a helicopter ride down the California coast, the only way he could make the scheduling work.

The baritone-voiced country star delivered a set each night that featured No. 1 hits including "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" and "Sunny and 75," as well as his latest single, "Undone."

"I was honored by the invitation to join Garth in Anaheim this past weekend. His showmanship, hospitality and overall presence is first-class and larger than life," Nichols says. "We had an absolute blast!"

Nichols is currently crossing the country on his own tour to promote the new single on Red Bow Records, including a number of headlining shows and festivals.
