Jennifer Nettles will be representing country music on a brand-new TV music competition. The Sugarland singer and solo artist has taken one of four judges roles on American Supergroup, a new show in search of the next big band.

According to an official press release, American Supergroup will showcase the "creation and evolution of the best new band in the country." Joining Nettles on a panel of expert judges for the show are Aloe Blacc, known for R&B hits such as "I Need a Dollar;" pop-rock singer Elle King, who recently collaborated with Dierks Bentley on "Different for Girls;" and the iconic lead singer of Chicago, Jason Scheff. iHeartRadio personality Dave Styles will host the show.

Known for songs such as "That Girl" and, more recently, "Hey Heartbreak," Nettles has seen success as both a solo artist and as one-half of the country-pop duo Sugarland; she also fronted two Atlanta-based bands, Soul Miner's Daughter and the Jennifer Nettles Band, before making it big. Earlier this year, Nettles released her second solo studio album, Playing With Fire, and she's got a new Christmas album set for release on Oct. 28.

Set to air on MTV Live, MTV Classic and Pop, American Supergroup will take 25 finalists to create five groups of five members each; each group will include a guitarist, drummer, bass player, keyboardist and vocalist. Bands can adopt any musical genre that fits them and will receive expert guidance from Nettles and her fellow judges. Viewers will interact with and vote for the bands via social media throughout the season.

American Supergroup is currently filming at Skyways Studios in Nashville. The show premieres Tuesday (Oct. 11) on Pop at 8PM ET; on MTV Live on Thursday (Oct. 13) at 8PM ET; and on MTV Classic on Friday (Oct. 14) at 7PM ET. The season will feature weekly one-hour episodes during the next eight weeks, with the 90-minute finale airing on Dec. 6.
