San Angelo’s first flashing yellow arrow traffic signal was installed in September of last year at Sherwood Way and Beauregard Avenue. The concept remains the same as a green ball signal for a left turn. That is, while the yellow arrow is flashing, drivers should yield to oncoming traffic.

The new signal, which replace signals with green arrow and green light phases, is meant to better direct traffic.  The yellow arrow traffic signal, now mandated by federal regulations, is equipped with a sign that advises motorists, “Left Turn Yield on Flashing Yellow Arrow.”

The public needs to be aware that during the upgrade, this intersection will be in an ALL-WAY red flash condition, potentially causing significant delays.  Please avoid the intersection if possible on Thursday.
