Happy Trails, Goober

Actor George Lindsey, who played Goober, the gas station mechanic on The Andy Griffith Show and later on Hee Haw, past away Sunday in Nashville following a brief illness.  He was 83.Lindsey played the role of Goober from 1964 to 1968 on The Andy Griffith Show and continued that role in the spin-off, Mayberry RFD from 1968 to 1971.  He then reprised the role over the next twenty years on Hee Haw.

His other TV credits include M*A*S*H, The Real McCoys, The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Hour.  His voice was also heard in animated Disney movies Robin Hood and The AristoCats.
