The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the San Angelo Performing Arts Center will be this Wednesday at the old Coca-Cola warehouse on Gillis Street between West 1st & West 2nd at 10am.Everyone is invited to the groundbreaking of the new Performing Arts Center this Wednesday morning.

Money has been raised to begin construction, and contracts have been signed with Kinney-Franke Architects and Templeton Construction.

Construction is expected to take 18 months. When completed, San Angelo will have state-of-the- art theatre spaces, ballet studios, and offices for resident companies (Angelo Civic Theatre and San Angelo Civic Ballet), office space for the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council, a single- source ticket office for performing arts and other groups, and meeting and performance spaces for the general public.

When paired with the adjacent restored and improved Elta Joyce Murphey Performance Hall & Stage at San Angelo City Auditorium, San Angelo will have a modern performing arts campus to benefit everyone in the community. Completion of the Elta Joyce Murphey Performance Hall & Stage at San Angelo City Auditorium effort also is anticipated in 18 months. If all goes well, both facilities will open in summer/fall 2016.
