Concho Valley PAWS is pleased to announce that because of a recent, generous donation to their spay and neuter program, they are now able to expand our spay and neuter program.
They  will offer FREE spay and neuter vouchers for pets of low income households beginning February 1.  These vouchers are offered based on an application and approval process.  Pet owners must complete an application to show they qualify for this program.

Because this a program targeting pets of low income households, pet owners must show proof of income not exceeding $11,500 annually for an individual or $24,000 annually per family.  Once an application is received, it will be reviewed and the applicant will receive notification of the application status within 7 days.  If approved, the pet owner will have 30 days from the date of issue to use the voucher.

In additional to the free vouchers provided based on income, PAWS will also offer "target spay and neuter vouchers" to owners of "high risk breeds"  High risk breeds are breeds that are most likely to be destroyed in a municipal shelter.  The breed that is euthanized most often in the local shelter is the pit bull.  Thousands of them are destroyed EVERY YEAR in San Angelo.  The second most euthanized breed locally is the Chihuahua.

Owners of  either of these breeds may have them spayed or neutered for FREE.  There is a limit to only one free vouchers per household per year.  The pet owner must complete an application to be considered for a free spay/neuter voucher and must provide a photograph of the pet they wish to have altered.  Once the application is received, it will be reviewed and the applicant will receive notification of the application status within 7 days.  If approved, the pet owner will have 30 days from the date of issue to use the voucher.

Once the have issued all of the FREE vouchers allowed for the month, PAWS will then hold new applications and consider them for the following month.

Concho Valley PAWS will continue to offer its standard low cost spay/neuter vouchers on the first Saturday of every month at their Sunset Mall office at 9:00 am. These vouchers are offered on a first-come/first-serve basis, and they do have a limited amount to offer.

Pet owners may purchase one per household per month. The cost of the vouchers are: $45 for a cat and $65 for a dog. Cash or check is the acceptable method of payment for these vouchers. The vouchers are valid only for 30 days from the date of issue to call and make an appointment with the participating vet.

You may pick up an application for a FREE voucher by visiting the adoption center inside Sunset Mall or you may download it at conchovalleypaws.org by clicking on the programs link.  Please call 325-656-PETS (7387)if you have any questions.

Thank you for spaying and neutering your pet. All vouchers cover the cost of surgery only. If you opt for vaccinations, blood work or any additional care for your pet, that expense is the responsibility of the pet owner.
