Early voting in the May 10 election to fill three of the San Angelo City Council’s seven seats is underway and continues through May 6.
Early ballots can be cast from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 28 through Friday, May 2, or from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 5-6 at any one of five locations:

·         Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave., second floor.

·         Immanuel Baptist Church, 90 E. 14th St.

·         Victory Christian Center, 1620 Sunset Drive.

·         Assembly of God Church, 1442 Edmund Blvd.

·         Plaza del Sol Apartments, 4359 Oak Grove Blvd.

Early voting and election day polling locations are also available on the City’s website at cosatx.us/elections.

On May 10, voters in Single-Member Districts 1, 3 and 5 will elect representatives to serve full, two-year terms.

Candidates for each office in the order they appear on the ballot are:

  • SMD 1 – Rodney Fleming, Bill Richardson, Trinidad Aguirre Jr.
  • SMD 3 – Eugenio Ismael Garcia, Johnny Silvas, Richard C. Bastardo Sr.
  • SMD 5 – Philip Skinner, Elizabeth Grindstaff.

 Voters can access a map of the City Council districts at cosatx.us/elections.

 Photo identification is now required to vote in Texas. Any of these seven forms is acceptable:

  • Texas driver’s license.
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate (issued by the Department of Public Safety).
  • Texas personal identification card (issued by DPS).
  • Texas concealed handgun license (issued by DPS).
  • U.S. military identification card containing the person’s photo.
  • U.S. citizenship certificate containing the person’s photo.
  • U.S. passport.

Voters without an acceptable form of ID will be offered a provisional ballot and informed of their right to show an ID to the voter registrar no later than six days after the election. Voters who cast a provisional ballot because of a lack of photo ID will have until Friday, May 16, to appear at the Tom Green County Elections Office on the second floor of the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave., and show an acceptable ID.

Registered voters who wish to receive a ballot by mail must complete an application to have a ballot mailed to them. To obtain an application, voters may call the Tom Green County Election Office at 325-659-6541 or go to votetomgreencounty.org and click on the “Ballot by Mail Request Form.”
