Upon arrival, Officers located a collision between a black 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck and an 18-wheeler. The driver of the pickup, a 24-year-old San Angelo man, was transported to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of incapacitating injuries. His current condition is unknown. The driver of the 18-wheeler, a 28-year-old resident of Piedras Negras, Mexico, sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene by San Angelo Fire Department Medics.

During the crash investigation, it was learned the pickup was traveling westbound on Arden Road above the posted speed limit when it noticed the 18-wheeler in the roadway, attempting to back into a vacant lot. Evidence at the scene shows the pickup’s driver applied the brakes approximately 239 feet before it crashed into the cab of the 18-wheeler. The force of the collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Crash Investigators list the pickup’s speed as the contributing factor to this crash.

The 18-wheeler, registered to Express Navarrete Trucking out of Eagle Pass, Texas, was delivering a payload of bricks to a nearby brickyard.
