Deadline To Register to Vote in City Election is This Thursday

This Thursday, April 11, is the final day to register to vote in the May 11 City Council election.
Six of the Council’s seven seats are up for election this year: full two-year terms for mayor and for the seats for Single Member Districts 2, 4 and 6, and unexpired one-year terms in SMDs 1 and 5. The ballot includes 19 candidates.

Voter registration applications are available at the Tom Green County Election/Voter Registration Office on the second floor of the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave., and at all three Tom Green County library locations.

Applications can also be obtained by mail by calling (325) 659-6541. Completed applications can be returned in person or by mail; mailed applications must be postmarked by this Thursday, April 11. You can also register to vote when renewing your driver’s license in person at a Texas Department of Public Safety office; to be eligible to vote May 11, that must be done by this Thursday, April 11.

Early voting will be from April 29 to May 7. A list of polling locations will be included in the April utility bill for City water customers. The list is also available on the City’s website at sanangelotexas.us/elections.

The county’s Election Office will conduct poll worker training on the following dates. The training is open to the public, but attendance must be scheduled by calling the Election Office at (325) 659-6541 or by emailing elections@co.tom-green.tx.us.

• Saturday, April 20, 9 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.

• Sunday, April 28, 1:30 p.m.Volunteer deputy training will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the Election Office on the 2nd floor of the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave.  The training is for anyone who wants to serve as an extension of the Election Office by accepting voter registration applications. Attendance must be scheduled by calling the Election Office at (325) 659-6541 or by emailing elections@co.tom-green.tx.us.
