A community is in mourning after the disappearance of Jerry Greer, the 19-year-old son of Craig Morgan who was involved in a tubing accident on Sunday (July 10). As of Monday afternoon, Greer's body had not been recovered.

A vigil planned at Dickson County High School’s football stadium on Monday night (July 11) has been canceled out of respect for the family. Football coaches Jay Powlas and Jeremiah Satterfield were set to speak at the 8PM candlelight vigil, according to the Tennessean. Greer recently graduated from Dickson High.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis spoke to media near Kentucky Lake, the site of the accident. In a video captured by Dickson County Herald reporter Andy Simmons, he emphasized that the situation has his team's full attention and that 20 to 30 boats are on the water searching for Greer. He clarified that Greer was being pulled behind a boat in a tube and was indeed wearing a life jacket. The tube hit a wave, causing the recent Dickson High School graduate to fall from it. He didn’t speculate as to why the life preserver didn't cause him to float to the surface.

Jerry is one of four kids Morgan and his wife Karen have together. First responders from Humphreys and Dickson counties, plus the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, are all involved with the search.

Morgan’s publicist released a statement Monday morning, saying: “The family is grateful for everyone’s support and prayers and requests privacy during this difficult time.”

Update: Rescue crews recovered Jerry Greer's body on Monday night (July 11).
