The Concho Kennel Club is hosting American Kennel Club (AKC) Sanctioned National Dog Show and Conformation Competition & Obedience Trial Competition this weekend at the Coliseum.
In the conformation rings, each breed of dog is judged against the written AKC standard, and the dog conforming the closest to that standard wins “Best of Breed.” The Best of Breed winner gets to advance to the next level of competition, the Group ring, which consists of seven different groups: Working, Herding, Hound, Terrier, Non-Sporting, Sporting, and Toy. Each Best of Breed winner competes in their designated group and the winner of their group gets to compete for Best in Show.

In obedience trials, dogs must perform certain tasks to compete for the highest score to earn the obedience title they are pursuing.

This Saturday & Sunday (two separate shows), judging begins at 8:30am each day.

Group Judging & Leading up to Best in Show starts at 12:45pm.
