The City of San Angelo will celebrate the grand opening of The Bosque this Friday, June 24, with washer-pitching, miniature golf and sand volleyball tournaments.

Registration for all three competitions will be from 5 p.m.-5:45 p.m. Friday at The Bosque, located adjacent to the Irving Street crossing at the Concho River downtown. Play will begin at 6 p.m.

  • Entry fees for the washer-pitching tournament will be $40 per team with a 30-team limit. The format will be double elimination, with cash prizes for the first- through third-place teams.
  • The putt-putt golf tournament costs $10 per person. The three lowest scores will win cash prizes.
  • The sand volleyball tournament will include coed teams of six players, with an entry fee of $10 per person. Registration will be limited to the first six teams. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place finishers.

The movie, “Little Giants” will be shown around 8:30 p.m, it’s Free and everyone’s invited!

In March,The Bosque’s new putt-putt course and concession stand opened adjacent to the popular sand volleyball area. In addition to selling drinks and snacks, the concession stand rents paddleboats, putters and balls for mini golf, and washers, bocce balls and oversized chess pieces for the area’s game court. The Bosque was developed as part of the Concho River improvements, which were completed in 2012.
