Most City of San Angelo Facebook pages will be consolidated into one page on Sept. 1.
Facebook pages for Civic Events, Parks and Recreation, the Nature Center, Emergency Management, WIC and the Development Corporation will be deactivated on Sept. 1. Followers of those pages are encouraged to “like” the City of San Angelo’s Public Information page at facebook.com/CityofSanAngeloTexas.

The following on the Public Information page is approaching 8,400 fans – in excess of four times more followers of any of the pages being deactivated.

“This is a move to reach the widest possible audience with information that is of importance and impact to San Angeloans about their municipal government,” Public Information Officer Anthony Wilson said. “While some of us initially believed multiple pages targeting niche audiences was the best approach, we’ve come to realize those followers miss out on some great information they may not realize they want and need.”

The Public Information page is updated multiple times daily.

In June, the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers recognized San Angelo’s Public Information Office as having the second-best social media effort in the state. The City of San Angelo can also be followed on Twitter (twitter.com/CityofSanAngelo) and YouTube (youtube.com/CityofSanAngeloTx).

The San Angelo Police Department and Fort Concho will continue to operate their own Facebook pages.
