Chris Young was as surprised as anyone when he got dragged unwillingly into the middle of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton's divorce, and now he's speaking out about the rumors and how they impacted his friendships with both stars.

The couple announced their divorce on July 20, and by the very next day, celebrity gossip site TMZ had posted an article that mentioned tabloid rumors about Lambert's relationship with Young as one possible factor in Shelton's decision to file. Young responded with a public denial via social media that day, and in a new interview, he reflects on how it felt to be in such an awkward position.

"Man, it sucks that I got put in this situation with two people who are my friends," Young tells Entertainment Tonight. "It's just so weird getting pulled into something like that where it just wasn't true."

Young even reached out to Shelton to make sure he realized the rumors were just that.

"I was in touch with Blake all day that day," he reveals. "He was like, 'Dude, sorry.' I was like, 'I know, man.'"

Fortunately, the awkwardness hasn't affected his friendships with Lambert or Shelton.

"I have not seen them, [but] I've definitely texted and called both of them," Young says. "They're both good since [the last] time I've heard from them. As good as you can be ...They're both really great friends still, so it's just one of those things. That's kind of a byproduct of doing this and being in the spotlight, I guess."

Young was a part of another couple's future marriage plans, as a pair of fans got engaged during one of his recent concerts. Watch that sweet video here.
