Bill Nikolauk, President of 1st Community Federal Credit Union in San Angelo, was chosen as CEO of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) in the asset category $250 million in assets or less.
Bill Nikolauk has been a valuable asset to 1st Community Federal Credit Union, demonstrating exemplary leadership skills and ardent dedication that is an inspiration to his colleagues,” said E.H. “Pete” Weldon, Chairman of the Board. “This award is a testament to his outstanding service on behalf of our members.”

Nikolauk received this honor in part for his achievements over the past year to include: being named U.S. Air Force Credit Union of the Year, Favorite Credit Union for the 15th year in a row, petitioning for and obtaining a change to Federal Regulations that benefits credit unions across the country, receiving approval to add 11 Texas counties to 1st Community's field of membership, opening a new branch in Midland, Texas all while maintaining a Five Star rating with Bauer Financial.

1st Community Federal Credit Union was established in 1953 on Goodfellow Air Force Base and now serves 27 counties in Texas with 3 branches in San Angelo and 1 branch each in Eldorado, Ballinger, Fort Stockton, Midland and Crane.  1st Community has almost 23,000 members worldwide.   1st Community FCU is a member of NAFCU.

Nikolauk and other winners in NAFCU’s 2014 Annual Awards Competition will be honored in conjunction with NAFCU’s 47th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo in Las Vegas, July 22-26.  Winners will also be profiled in an upcoming issue of The Federal Credit Union magazine.

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions is the only national organization that focuses exclusively on federal issues affecting credit unions, representing its members before the federal government and the public.
