If this is your birthday you share the date with the proclaimed "King of Country Music".   1903- Roy Acuff is born in Maynardville, Tennessee.  He makes his Grand Ole Opry debut in 1938, and becomes a "Superstar" on the famous radio show.  Later,  in 1962, he becomes the first living inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  He also earns  the title, the "King of Country Music".

1956- Elvis Presley takes his double sided hit to #1 on Billboard's country chart with "Hound Dog", and "Don't be Cruel".

1981- Andy Gibson, a singer/songwriter, is born in Spokane, Washington.  He would go on to co-write with Kelly Clarkson, her duet hit with Jason Aldean, "Don't You Want To Stay", in 2010.

1992- The soundtrack of "Pure Country", by George Strait, is released.

2001- "I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight", from Toby Keith, is #1 in Billboard.

2003- Miranda Lambert, a former "Nashville Star" contestant, signs a contract with Epic Records.

2007- "More Than A Memory", by Garth Brooks, is the first song to debut at #1 on Billboard's country singles chart.
