The date for this special day was chosen to be celebrated on "The King of Late Night Television's" birthday.  John William "Johnny" Carson, was born October 23, 1925.  He hosted The Tonight Show on NBC from 1962 until 1992.  To be exact, 29 years, 7 months and 21 days, in all 1,859 episodes.

While this day is celebrated on Johnny's birthday, it is intended to show appreciation for all TV talk show hosts, daytime and nighttime.  A day to show them how grateful we are for all their monologues, jokes, interviews, stories and entertainment they share with us.
