If you are celebrating today, congratulations.  45 years ago tonight, in a recording session at Bradley's Barn in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Loretta Lynn recorded 3 songs.  "Wings Upon Your Horns", made it to #11 on the charts, "You Wanna Give Me A Lift" ended up at #6, and "Coal Miner's Daughter", made it all the way to #1 and would become her signature song.  All in all, a very productive night for this Country Music Hall of Fame member.

It's National Homemade Cookies Day!

from Sally Scott

Need an excuse to bake some homemade cookies?  This is the day to do it.  It's also the day to eat some, take some to work, or to your neighbors.

I can almost smell the wonderful aroma of those cookies as they come fresh out of the oven.  They could be, chocolate chip, peanut butter, monster cookies, sugar cookies or my personal favorite, oatmeal raisin.  Which ever you decide on should be fine, as long as they are homemade.

Remember going to Grandma's house and finding a plate of fresh homemade cookies on the kitchen counter?  Here's a chance to create some memories of you own today.  now get out there and bake!
