Birthdays For November 24th + National Sardines Day

It it your birthday today?  Best wishes to you, and also to legendary guitar player, Tommy Allsup.  Tommy was born in 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  What a career this man has had.  He's been a member of Asleep At The Wheel, The Texas Playboys, and one of Buddy Holly's Crickets.  He's also played on hit recordings by John Anderson, George Jones, Tanya Tucker, Kenny Rogers and many others.  Happy 83rd, Tommy!  It's National Sardines Day! 

How much do you know about them?

Sardines include several types of small oily fish, related to herrings.  They are commonly served in cans, packed in either water, olive, sunflower or soybean oil or in a tomato, chili or mustard sauce.  Sardines are rich in nutrients and are a great source of vitamins and minerals. Sardines, compared to other fish commonly eaten by humans, are very low in contaminants, like mercury.

In other words, they are, "good for you".  Why not try a can and enjoy them on National Sardines Day!
