Birthdays For November 10th + It’s USMC Day

Congratulations, if this is your birthday!  You are celebrating with country star, Miranda Lambert.  Born in 1983, in Longview, Texas, she first came to national attention on TV's "Nashville Star".  Her music combines a feisty attitude with a deep sensitivity that  has won her a legion fans in a very short period of time.  As an example of her success,  this past Wednesday night, she won her 5th straight Female Vocalist of the Year award from the Country music Association, along with two more trophies in other categories.  Happy 31st, Miranda.    It's USMC Day!

This day celebrates the birth of the United States Marine Corps.

On this date in 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the creation of the Continental Marines.  That name was later changed to the U.S. Marine Corps and is often abbreviated as USMC.

The recruiting headquarters in 1775, was in the Tun Tavern on Water Street in Philadelphia, and it's considered to be the birthplace of the Marines.

The Marine Corps has proudly served in every war that has involved the United States.

Today, let's take this opportunity as a nation, to thank them all, and say a Big Happy 239th Birthday, to the United States Marine Corps!!
