This Is Sewing Machine Day!

People who know how to work a sewing machine are a dying breed. You may recall your mother or grandmother always had a machine in their house. They used it a lot. Today, if you look around the house you probably won't find one.

The first sewing machines were made in France in the 1830s. The first patented U.S. machine came along in 1846. Before that, clothes had to be sewn by hand. So, the sewing machine was a terrific invention.
