If you are celebrating on this second day of the new year, congratulations.  You share the same date as country music singer/songwriter, Roger Miller born 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas. Raised in Erick, Oklahoma, Miller's quirky songwriting and sense of humor lead to such hits as "King Of The Road," "Dang Me" and "Chug-A-Lug," launching him into the Country Music Hall of Fame. 

It's National Buffet Day!

When choosing a destination for eating out, a buffet is usually very  popular.  There's always lots of food choices and everyone can serve themselves to as much, or as little, as they like of each item.

The concept of the buffet originated in Sweden in the middle of the 16th century and was referred to as a "smorgasbord", or buffet board.  During the 1939 New York World's Fair, the Swedes used it to showcase the best of Swedish food to many people attending the fair. The term buffet originally referred to the French sideboard furniture that the food was served from.  Americans, later applied it to the serving format.

All you have to do to celebrate this special day is "fill that plate and eat up".
