Birthdays For February 25th + Clam Chowder Day

If this is your birthday, congratulations!  You are celebrating along with, Shawna McIlwain,  born in Laurel, Mississippi, in 1978.  After marrying Keifer Thompson, the couple becomes Thompson Square, establishing the duo nationally with their 2010 single "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not".  Happy 37th, Shawna!  Also born on this date, the late, Faron Young, in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1932. He was one of country music's most colorful figures, founding the publication, The Music City News and scoring more than 40 hits from 1953-1974 on his way to admission in 2000 to the Country Music Hall of Fame. 

It's National Clam Chowder Day!!

This is a great time of the year to enjoy a hearty bowl and celebrate, National Clam Chowder Day!

In this chowder, along with the clams you will also find diced potatoes, onions that are often sauteed in pork or bacon drippings, and celery.

Some of the more famous variants on this popular dish include: New England, Manhattan, Rhode Island, Delaware, New Jersey, and Long Island clam chowder.
