1946 - Keyboard player Bob Carpenter is born in Philadelphia. A member of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band beginning in 1978, he's with them when they reach their commercial peak in the 1980s, turning out such hits as "Fishin' In The Dark" and "Modern Day Romance"

It's National Candy Cane Day!!

We celebrate this day in the United States each year on, December 26th.

There are lot's of folklore tales about the origins of the candy cane, but as of yet, there is no documented proof of it's true beginning.

A recipe for a straight peppermint candy stick goes back to 1844. It was white with colored stripes, however much earlier reports tell of all white candy sticks.

A pastry chef, Alain Roby, holds the Guinness World Record for the largest candy cane, measuring 51 feet long.

Today, be sure to take a bite, or take a lick, if you prefer to enjoy this special day.
