This Is Rubber Eraser Day!

Make no mistake, this day celebrates the invention of the rubber eraser. Everyone makes mistakes. When we do, it's nice to know that we can use that little plug of rubber at the top of our pencil to correct those mistakes. Imagine how messy our paperwork would be without it.

There are two men to thank for erasers. Joseph Priestley discovered the eraser in 1770, using pieces of rubber imported from Brazil. Then in 1858, Hyman Lipman of Philadelphia, Pa., patented the pencil with an eraser at the end.

A thought for this special day: To err is human, an eraser is divine!

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!
