Birthdays And Anniversaries For September 3rd + Skyscraper Day

If this is your birthday, congratulations! You share the same date as one of the true  legend's  in country music and a fellow Texan. Hank Thompson, born in Waco, Texas, in 1925. His mix of honky-tonk and Western swing makes him one of country's top acts in the 1950s and early-'60s. His signature song, "The Wild Side Of Life," aids his 1989 induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  

Welcome To Skyscraper Day!

Your looking at A general view of the Burj Khalifa, This is currently the worlds tallest tower, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It's 2,717 feet tall, and has 163 floors.

Skyscrapers are truly engineering and architectural marvels. As technical capabilities in construction has improved, skyscraper buildings have become taller and taller. In addition, there is a certain prestige to have one of the tallest buildings in the world in your city and country.

There is some disagreement over how to measure the height of skyscrapers. At issue, is whether to measure the height of flagpoles and antennas atop most tall buildings.

Skyscraper day is on September 3rd because that is Louis H. Sullivan's birthday (1856), the architect credited with the first skyscrapers.
