Birthdays And Anniversaries For September 29th + It’s National Coffee Day

If today is your birthday, congratulations!  You share this date with singing cowboy star, Gene Autry.  Gene was born in Tioga, Texas.  Most famous for his signature song, "Back In The Saddle Again", he would go on to become a recording artist, a movie star and in later years, owner of the California Angels baseball team.  In 1969, he was voted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  

It's National Coffee Day!

There are many accounts of how coffee first came to be.  One of the earliest points to the SUFI monasteries near Mokha in Yemen, in the middle of the 15th century.  There, coffee seeds were first roasted and brewed, much as they are today.  Traders from Yemeni, brought back coffee to their homeland, from Ethiopia, and began to plant the seed and grow coffee trees.

Legend has it, in 1670, Baba Budan, smuggled coffee seeds out of the Middle east and planted them in Mysore.  Coffee then spread to Italy, on to the rest of Europe, also Indonesia and eventually the Americas.
