1952- Hank Williams has the #1 spot on Billboard's country singles chart, with "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)".

1957- Joe Smyth is born in Portland, Maine.  Later he becomes the drummer for the group, Sawyer Brown.

1963- Mark Chesnutt is born in Beaumont, Texas.  He gets his start on the country charts with "Too Cold At Home", in 1990, and would be one of the most consistent hit-makers of that decade.

1980- Johnny Lee is #1 in Billboard, with "Lookin' For Love".

1884- Ernest Tubb, passes away in a Nashville hospital.  A member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1943, he was elected to the Country Music Hall of fame in 1965.

2012- Amy Grant and Reba McEntire deliver induction speeches as Vince Gill receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
