If this is your day to celebrate, congratulations.  Eight years ago tonight, Trace Adkins sang the national anthem prior to Game 3 of the World Series, and Jo Dee Messina, performed "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.  The Cardinals went on to defeat the Detroit Tigers, 5-0.   It's National Food Day!

This special day was created in 2011, when the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) started a new project, National Food Day.  It's a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable and sustainably produced food along with a grassroots campaign for better food prices.

One of the purposes of this day is to help folks to "Eat Real".  That's defined as cutting back on sugary  drinks, overly salted packaged foods and fatty, factory-farmed meats in favor of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and sustainably raised protein.  National Food Day involves some of country's foremost food activists.  They are united by a vision of food that is healthy, affordable and produced with care of the environment, farm animals and the people who grow, harvest and serve it.

Today, make sure you eat healthy and enjoy National Food Day.

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y !!!
