If you are celebrating a birthday today, congratulations.  On this day in 1925, "The WSM Barn Dance" began broadcasting in Nashville.  That first one-hour show was a performance by Uncle Jimmy Thompson, including the song, "When You And I Were Young Maggie".  Later the broadcast would be renamed the Grand Ole Opry.  It was also on this date in 1964, that Willie Nelson, made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry.  It's Black Friday!!

This is one of the two busiest shopping days of the year.  The other being the day after Christmas.

Why is it called Black Friday?

In the wonderful world of accountants, red represents a loss, and black represents a profit.  For most retailers, the Christmas holiday sales season is about one half to three quarters of their annual sales.  Some businesses actually lose money until holiday sales begin.  Those important sales begin on the day after Thanksgiving.  So hopefully, Black Friday marks the tuning point from a loss to big profits.

Here's hoping you enjoy your Black Friday shopping as much as the store owners do!!

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!
