Birthdays And Anniversaries For November 11th + It’s Veterans Day
If this is your birthday, congratulations. In 1993, on this date, country artist, Crystal Gayle performed at the dedication of the Vietnam Women's Memorial in Washington, D.C. In 2004, country stars, Darryl Worley, Mark Wills and Rebecca Lynn Howard give a Veterans Day performance for troops at Central Command in the Sundome in Tampa, Florida. It's Veterans Day!
In 1921, on November 11th at 11:11 a.m., France, England and the United States each buried an unknown soldier in honor of those who died serving in World War I. That day and time was selected because fighting ceased in WWI in 1918 on November 11 at 11:11 a.m.
This holiday was first called Armistice Day and remained that way until 1954, when President Eisenhower changed the name to Veteran's Day to honor all those who served and died from all wars.
On this day we pay tribute to all members of the Armed Forces who have served or are currently serving and fighting to protect us. Remember, veterans gave their time, risked their lives for you and me, and some even made the ultimate sacrifice. This is something we should never forget.
A Special "Thank You" to ALL Veterans Today.
