If it's your birthday today, congratulations.  There's also another candle on the cake today for, singer/songwriter Harley Allen, born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1956.  He writes Alan Jackson's "Between The Devil And Me," Darryl Worley's "Awful, Beautiful Life" and Blake Shelton's "The Baby." He also sang harmonies on The Soggy Bottom Boys' "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow".  Happy 56th, Harley!

It's National Pie Day!!

This day was created to simply celebrate the pie.  Use it to bake or cook your favorite pies.  Most importantly, remember to enjoy eating one or several slices of pie today.

Pies are nothing new.  The first ones appeared about 9500 BC, in what we call "the Egyptian Neolithic period" or the New Stone Age.  They are one of the greatest and most versatile food structures mankind has ever known.  Most of us consume them as a sweet treat for dessert, but don't forget the pot pies filled with gravy and meats.

If you do decide to bake pies today, remember to make plenty, because everybody loves pie.

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!
