Birthdays And Anniversaries For February 11th + Peppermint Patty Day

Congratulations, if this is your birthday.  Look who is also turning a year older today.   Pop/rock musician, Sheryl Crow, born in Kennett, Missouri, in 1962. She appeared on country collaborations with Kid Rock and with Brooks & Dunn and Vince Gill. She also scored a Top 5 country album in 2013 with "Feels Like Home".  Happy 53rd, Sheryl!  Also celebrating today, bass player Jon Jones, born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1980. He becomes a founding member of The Eli Young Band, who come to prominence with hits like: "Crazy Girl,"  "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" and "Drunk Last Night".  Happy 35th, Jon! 

It's National Peppermint Patty Day!

Before the well known, York Peppermint Pattie, there were many other chocolate-covered peppermint candies.  York first produced theirs in 1940, then launched it nationally in 1975.  They dominated the market because of the firmness and crispness, while all the rest were of the soft variety.  The final test of the York pattie before leaving the factory is called the "snap test".  If it does not break clean in the middle, it's treated as a second, and not packaged as a York Peppermint Pattie.  Today enjoy this refreshing treat!
