If this is your birthday, congratulations, you are sharing it with Marty Raybon.  Marty was born on the date in Greenville, Alabama, in 1959.  He would go on the become the lead singer with the country group, Shenandoah.  His distinctive vocal styling would produce hit songs like:  "Two Dozen Roses", "The Church On Cumberland Road" and "If Bubba Can Dance".  Happy 55th, Marty.   It's National Brownie Day!

Just to set things straight, this day has nothing to do with The Girl Scouts!

Brownies are a fine product of the United States and have been around since the end of the 19th century.  They are a cross between a cookie and a cake and over the years have become very popular.

The chocolate brownie is the favorite but the blonde brownie is a close second.  By the way, a blonde brownie is made with brown sugar and no chocolate and is often referred to as a "blondie".

A chef at Chicago's Palmer House Hotel, gets the credit for introducing the very first brownie to America.  Now you know "the rest of the story".

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!
