When it comes to plants, Poinsettias are one of the most well-recognized symbols of Christmas.

This special day was officially declared by an Act of the United States Congress.  It honors Joel Roberts Poinsett, who was the first United States Ambassador to Mexico, and passed away on the date in 1951.  After serving in Mexico, he brought these colorful plants back to his home in Greenville, South Carolina.  He grew them on his plantation and each year, during the Christmas season gave them out as gifts to his friends.

For many of us, it just wouldn't be Christmas, without one of these beautiful plants.

Now Let's P-A-R-T-Y!!
