ASU Wind Ensemble Spring Concert
Angelo State University’s Wind Ensemble will present its spring concert on Monday, April 7, in the ASU Auditorium.
Titled “World Music,” the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open free to the public. The ASU Auditorium is located in the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N.
The musical program will include “Patriots of Pageantry” by James Horsay, “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Richard Wagner, “Undertow” by John Mackey, “Golden Bear March” by J.J. Richards, “Bianca” by R. Skiles and “Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld” by Jacques Offenbach. The concert will conclude with “Overture 1812” by Peter Tchaikovsky.
Featured soloists will include Dr. Jeff Womack, associate professor of music, and ASU students Ethan Huffman, Adrianna Gomez, Candace Clements, Lynsey Gold, Breanna Wood, Eva Mendoza, Rebekah Arana-Cook and Joseph John Firenza. Guest faculty performers will include Dr. John Irish, Dr. Timothy Bonenfant and Dr. Michael Yenny. A special presentation of antiphonal winds and percussion will feature students from the Central and Lake View high school bands.
The ASU Wind Ensemble conductor is Arturo Valdez, ASU director of bands. Guest conductors for the spring concert will be Dr. Constance Kelley, assistant director of bands; Harris Brinson, director of bands emeritus; and James Bode, director of percussion.
