Angelo State University’s University Center Program Council (UCPC) will present country singer-songwriter Marla Morris at a free Crossroads Live performance at 11:30 a.m. this Thursday, Oct. 2, in the lobby of the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.A native of the town of Bethany, Conn., population 5,500, Morris recorded her first album, the self-titled “Marla Morris,” at age 17. It featured six of her co-written songs, including three co-written with Frankie Vinci, songwriter for country music superstar Tim McGraw. She then headed to Nashville, where she graduated from Belmont University. Her second album, “Ready for the Rain,” released in 2013, landed on the Top 100 Country Albums chart on iTunes on its first day of release. Her single, “I Can’t Do This Anymore,” was featured under “New and Noteworthy” on iTunes. She has opened for Chuck Wicks at the legendary Copacabana in New York City and for Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn at Joe’s Bar in Chicago.
