Angelo State University’s Club Café coffeehouse entertainment series will host the stand-up comedy team Frangela on Wednesday, March 26, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
Frangela comprises best friends Frances Callier and Angela V. Shelton, who will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center.  Doors will open at 7 p.m. with admission prices of $2 for ASU students and $5 for the general public at the door.  The first 100 people will get a free Club Café mug, and light refreshments will be served.

Callier, a native of Chicago, and Shelton, a native of Detroit, met at the world-famous Second City Theatre in Chicago, where they polished their talents as writers and satirists.  A fan favorite as bodyguard Roxie on Disney’s “Hannah Montana,” Callier has also appeared in various TV sit-coms and can be heard on Fox’s animated comedy, “The Cleveland Show.”  Shelton has also made numerous TV appearances and has voiced characters in several video games, including “Spider Man 2,” “Ultimate Spider Man,” “Superman,” and “Reservoir Dogs.”  She has also had roles in the films “Strange Wilderness,” “Mardi Gras,” “House Bunny” and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”

As Frangela, the pair has appeared on NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here,” on Oprah’s “Funniest Stand Ups in the Country” and in the film “He’s Just Not That Into You.”  They are regular pop culture pundits on NBC’s “The Today Show” and “Dateline,” Fox’s “Mike and Juliet Show” and “Wedlock or Deadlock,” and CNN’s “Showbiz Tonight,” among others.  They also host a radio show, “This Week According to Frangela,” in Los Angeles on Progressive Talk AM 1150.
