Appeal of Court Case on Gun Rights

BELTON, Texas (AP) — The soldier convicted of a misdemeanor in a case argued by gun-rights advocates isn't giving up his court fight.
The Temple Daily Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/J9Y6YZ ) that the attorney for U.S. Army Master Sgt. Christopher Grisham has filed a notice of his intent to appeal Grisham's November conviction for interfering with the duties of a public servant.

A Temple police officer arrested Grisham while he and his son were hiking for a Boy Scout merit badge. Grisham was carrying an AR-15 rifle and a concealed handgun, both legally. The officer arrested Grisham after trying to take the weapons because he feared for his safety.

A jury gave Grisham a fine, but no jail time.

Grisham's attorney, Blue Rannefeld, says in his motion that prosecutors' claims were not supported by the evidence.
