Relatives of all Angelo State University students are invited to campus this Saturday for Family Day 2016, a day of special activities that will culminate with the Rams’ football game against Eastern New Mexico University.

Sponsored by the ASU Office of Multicultural and Student Activities Programs, Family Day 2016 will also include participation by a number of campus and student organizations. All activities are free for students and their families, and the ASU Food Service Center will be open throughout the day.

Scheduled activities will begin at 8 a.m. with a complimentary “Breakfast with the VP” in the Plaza Verde residence hall, featuring Dr. Javier Flores, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.

At 10 a.m., the RAMbassadors will offer “Sibling Tours” of the campus starting at the Houston Harte University Center, while University Recreation will open the Ben Kelly Center for Human Performance to families of students, so they can try out such features as the 40-foot indoor rock-climbing wall.

For those wanting to see more of the city, ASU’s Multicultural and Student Activities Programs will offer guided tours of San Angelo, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. and tours departing at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.

At noon, students and their families are invited to tour the ASU West Texas Collection and view different collections related to the history, culture and literature of the American Southwest with emphasis on West Texas.

ASU’s chapter of the Society of Physics Students will host a Physics Show at 3 p.m. in the Concho Hall residence hall. Then at 4 p.m., the ASU student chapter of the American Chemical Society will host a Chemistry Magic Show in Plaza Verde.

Starting at 3:30 p.m., the ASU Alumni Association will host a Ram Jam pregame tailgate party at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, featuring free food and drinks and a live band. Special activity booths will also be hosted by the ASU Communications and Marketing Office, Center for International Studies, Korean Students Association and various other student organizations and honor societies.

Family Day will conclude with the opportunity to cheer for the Rams football team against ENMU at 6 p.m. at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
